The mission of the Columbus Cougars Trap Shooting Team is a local non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a safe, fun, and enriching experience in clay target sports for student-athletes. We prioritize the highest standards of safety, fun, marksmanship, conservation, and mentorship that empowers our athletes to excel both on and off the range.
“The programs and services we provide as a non-profit organization is to teach youth how to participate, compete in and excel at clay target sports.
We include all students regardless of experience, gender, race, financial status or ability. Columbus Cougars Trap Shooting Team is open for any student in grades 7-12 and 13 to 18 years of age. We encourage the student-athletes and their families to participate and volunteer in the Club in an effort to mentor future sportsmen and conservationists.
Columbus Cougars Trap Shooting Team is an excellent opportunity to connect youth and their families to outdoor recreation. When students join a USA Clay Target League, it is mandatory that they earn a state approved hunter education certification or Student Athlete Firearm Education (SAFE) Certification. This initial step in the registration process provides student-athletes with many opportunities from hunting to shooting sports.
The team will be driving from Columbus, MT on Sunday evenings to the Billings Trap Club to practice and compete “”virtually”” against the other teams in Montana. Each team competes at their home field and then uploads their scores weekly. June 7 is the State Trap Shooting Tournament in Great Falls, MT. We have been invited to participate in Big Sky State Games in July.”
